STChealth CEO Mike Popovich Awarded 2021 "Friend of Pharmacy National Award" by APhA
The APhA (American Pharmacists Association) recently announced STChealth CEO Mike Popovich as the winner of the 2021 Friend of Pharmacy National Award. This recognition of Mr. Popovich is a reflection of his dedication to establishing and building connections between Pharmacies and Public Health.

“I’m incredibly honored to be named the winner of APhA’s Friend of Pharmacy National Award,” said Mr. Popovich. “Our combined efforts to demonstrate the importance of bi-directional immunization reporting, as well as our vigilant efforts to remove barriers to administering immunizations in pharmacies, are crucial for providing much needed access to clinical services such as immunizations and lab tests across the country.”
The Friend of Pharmacy National Award recognizes individuals with long standing contributions to the APhA and their members. Throughout his 33 years as CEO of STChealth, Mr. Popovich has supported Pharmacist’s ability to report and retrieve patient immunization status at the point-of-care. A study conducted in partnership with APhA demonstrated STChealth’s ability to retrieve patient immunization status at the point of care, resulting in 40% more immunizations administered per patient encounter.
Mr. Popovich is also a member of The Navigators, a group dedicated to addressing challenges related to administering vaccines. The Navigators bring together representatives from Pharmacy, Public Health, Vaccine Manufacturing, and Healthcare to discuss strategies for increasing access to immunizations. As COVID-19 vaccines continue to be rolled out nationwide, The Navigators are working overtime to help ensure an equitable distribution across the United States.
