Priority Waste Continues Ongoing Commitment to Community with Meaningful Donation to Local Special Needs Nonprofit

Priority Waste recently made a major difference for Mi Abilities, a local nonprofit that focuses on providing career opportunities for adults with special needs. The organization had been dealt a crushing blow in mid-January, when thieves made off with a sizable trailer that had taken nearly three years to acquire. The trailer was used to deliver firewood locally, and was to provide a source of income to help keep more young adults employed. Aside from firewood, the organization also produces wood-working crafts and gourmet treats – all created by hand.

Dan Venet of Priority Waste was first made aware of Mi Abilities' plight by a story on the local Fox affiliate in Metro Detroit. “We'd just purchased new trailers prior to hearing of the setback that Mi Abilities had suffered, we saw how this organization was vital to the community, and we knew that we wanted to help right away,” said Mr. Venet.

“We immediately delivered the trailer to Mi Abilities to help in the furtherance of their honorable mission,” added a Priority Waste spokesperson. “We really believe in supporting organizations that are so focused on the greater good and providing opportunities for overlooked members of the community.” An added bonus of the donation is that the nonprofit had established a Go Fund Me campaign that can now be utilized to create additional jobs.
