In Advance of National Cybersecurity Awareness Month in October, Infinitely Virtual Joins DHS ‘Stop.Think.Connect.’ Campaign

Cloud hosting pioneer Infinitely Virtual today announced its support for 2019 National Cybersecurity Awareness Month (NCSAM) and its “STOP. THINK. CONNECT. ™” campaign (https://www.dhs.gov/stopthinkconnect) to promote personal accountability and encourage proactive behavior that enhances cybersecurity.

Taking place in October, National Cybersecurity Awareness Month (NCSAM) is a joint initiative of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Cybersecurity and the Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), in partnership with the National Cyber Security Alliance (NCSA).  NCSAM was created as a collaborative effort between government and private industry to ensure that all Americans have access to the resources needed to stay safe and secure, while protecting their digital information.

NCSAM takes place every October, and this year’s theme – which CISA and NCSA detail in the Stop.Think.Connect. Toolkit – is to “emphasize the role each individual plays in online safety and stress the importance of taking proactive steps to enhance cybersecurity at home and in the workplace.”  NCSAM asks that every link in the chain — individuals, businesses and governments — to safely secure devices and networks that provide online access.

To help individuals realize the goals of NCSAM, the Toolkit provides cybersecurity tips – such as layering login protection, safeguards for Internet of Things devices, password protocol, and phishing security – and resources from DHS, NCSA, and the National Initiative for Cybersecurity Careers and Studies.

NCSAM’s “OWN IT. SECURE IT. PROTECT IT.” mantra calls for individuals to:

• Understand their digital profile – the devices and applications they use every day to keep them and their information safe and secure
• Secure their digital profile – to apply layers of security to devices, such as multi-factor authentication
• Maintain their digital profile – to be familiar with and routinely check privacy settings to help protect their privacy and limit cybercrimes.
