Froelick Gallery is pleased to present For The Taking, a solo exhibition of prints and ceramic sculpture by Rebecca Boraz. Based in Portland, Oregon since 2009, Rebecca Boraz is a printmaker, mixed media artist, and Owner of Brave Atlas Printshop. She works predominantly in relief, intaglio printmaking, and ceramics.

This newest series of work explores the idea of Consumption; what it means to take / use, and in turn, what it means to be consumed oneself.

In her latest statement Boraz writes: “For the Taking  brings together reduction relief prints, intaglio works, and ceramics that examine the human impulse to consume. These pieces consider how taking can exist as both survival and excess. Through images, objects, patterns, and symbols, the works interplay with one another, revealing how consumption can be layered and nonreciprocal-at times essential for survival, at others driven by greed. At the same time, moments of tenderness surface: the warmth of holding a child, the intimacy of sharing a meal with friends. The exhibition reflects on the complexities of desire and the negotiations that shape what we choose to take.”

Rebecca Boraz received her BFA in printmaking from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and received her Masters degree in art therapy from New York University. In 2014, she completed residencies at Skopelos Foundation for the Arts and Running with Scissors Studio in 2023. For The Taking, is Rebecca Boraz’s second solo exhibition with Froelick Gallery.
