Driving Successful Lives Helps Flint Couple Move Toward Stable Housing Through Donated Property

Flint, MI (PRUnderground) May 11, 2026

Driving Successful Lives, Inc. (DSL), a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit charity, announced that it recently accepted the donation of a single-family home located on Davison Road in Flint, Michigan, and is currently working to complete extensive repairs to help provide safe housing for a local couple who had been living in a tent throughout the winter.

The charity has already coordinated funding and repairs for major foundation and plumbing issues, while additional repairs and improvements remain ongoing.

According to the couple receiving assistance, the opportunity has been “a true blessing from God.”

Driving Successful Lives receives donated real estate and vehicle donations from individuals and families across the United States. Many of the homes and vehicles donated to the charity are distressed, abandoned, inherited, or in significant disrepair. In many cases, donated assets are liquidated through auctions to generate funding for charitable outreach and assistance efforts.

However, in certain situations, the organization works directly to repair and stabilize donated properties when it believes the property can immediately help someone facing serious hardship.

“This home still needs work, and the repairs are ongoing,” said Mark Maupin, Director of Driving Successful Lives. “We have already addressed foundation and plumbing problems, but there is still more to do. The need in communities like Flint is tremendous. We see people struggling every day, and sometimes all it takes is a safe place to live to completely change someone’s future.”

Maupin added that many donated properties come with major financial and structural challenges.

“Most of the real estate and vehicle donations we receive are in very rough condition,” Maupin said. “Many people donate properties they cannot afford to repair, inherited homes they do not want, vacant houses, or vehicles that no longer run. Those donations help our charity continue helping people in need, and we are incredibly thankful to every donor who makes that possible.”

The organization stated that there are many families throughout Michigan and across the country living in unsafe housing situations, temporary shelters, vehicles, or tents due to financial hardship and rising housing costs.

Driving Successful Lives hopes this story encourages others to consider donating unwanted real estate, land, homes, commercial property, or vehicles to support charitable efforts.
