BrixFest 2012: The Brixham Heritage Festival in Devon

The beautiful stretch of coastline known as the English Riviera is a popular holiday resort area for many people choosing a holiday or one of the many Devon short breaks currently on offer. Taking place from June 2nd – 4th, it’s is a unique 3 day rural festival in its 21st year and offers a plethora of events, attractions and entertainment during this period.

Just some of the festival events featured include a carnival parade, dance displays, crabbing competitions, a ghost walk, street theatre, Punch and Judy puppets, magic shows, Clog and Morris dancing and a classical vehicle rally, ensuring there’s something for everyone to enjoy. There will also be a series of live music events as well as fireworks displays to open and close the event.

A big feature and one of the main highlights of the maritime themed festival is the opportunity to see the lovely historical sailing ships of the “Brixham’s Heritage Fleet” from around the area. The Heritage Fleet are beautifully and well preserved old authentic sailing fishing trawlers, which will be competing against one another the racing events across the bay to Torquay.
