Salt Lake City, UT (PRUnderground) August 8th, 2022

Through a community health needs assessment, Intermountain Healthcare identified “access to healthcare” among the top needs in the communities it serves.

Intermountain provides access to healthcare services for low income and uninsured populations in a variety of ways, often in collaboration with our partners and programs.

Vouchers

In 2021, 19,633 vouchers were provided to 59 low-income clinics (55 of which are non-Intermountain Federally Qualified Health Centers) to help patients access imaging, mammograms, and other care at Intermountain facilities for a total value of $16,084,710.

These vouchers to federally qualified health centers are for low-income, underserved families who are over 200% of the federal poverty level.

Behavioral Health

Additionally, the Intermountain Behavioral Health Navigation Line is available for Utahns that was developed early in the COVID-19 pandemic. The established and growing the Behavioral Health Network provides free mental health visits to under-represented communities. Intermountain offered $850,000 of funding, resulting in more than 10,900 free visits to uninsured community members in 2020. Intermountain also support networks in community clinics, school clinics, and dental services.

Mobile Clinics

Intermountain provided funding and operations for multiple mobile screening, diagnostic, and primary care units. In addition, Intermountain operates a mobile mammography unit and primary care mobile clinic.

Intermountain also funds a mobile clinic with a variety of specialty care providers utilized by community partners. Intermountain is committed to continuing to support efforts to increase access to timely and quality care.
