Statistics Mauritius has revealed that the number of holidaymakers visiting the island in the first three months of 2015 has increased by 10.6 per cent compared to 2014.

The popularity of holidays to Mauritius continues to rise after official figures revealed that the number of holidaymakers visiting the Indian Ocean island state rose by 10.6 per cent in the first quarter of 2015 compared to the same period last year.
The figures from Statistics Mauritius show that increased arrivals from Europe and Asia were the main reasons for the overall visitor numbers to increase from 263,293 to 291,329 in the first three months of 2015.
Travel firms specialising in holidays to Mauritius, such as Just2Mauritius, have seen a rise in the number of British holidaymakers visiting resorts, as Statistics Mauritius revealed that the number of British travellers soared by 30 per cent when comparing the first quarter of 2014 to the same period in 2015. On top of this, the number of Europeans holidaying in Mauritius soared by 11.5 per cent compared to the same period in 2014 to account for two-thirds of the total number of visitors to the island.
Tourism Minister Xavier-Luc Duval, said, “Barring the unforeseen, 2015 will be a very good year for the tourism industry.”
