Tingey Injury Law Firm Marks Pedestrian Safety Month with Call for More Vigilance on Roads
Industry: Legal Services
As pedestrian fatalities rise in and around Las Vegas, one of the city’s most experienced law firms is calling for less speeding, greater caution on roads.
Las Vegas, NV (PRUnderground) October 4th, 2023
Tingey Injury Law firm attorneys see firsthand the devastation of pedestrian accidents in the bustling tourist mecca of Las Vegas. As pedestrian fatalities in the city rise for the third year and counting, the firm is drawing attention to National Pedestrian Safety Month as an opportunity to urge Vegas-area drivers to be more mindful of pedestrians on the road.
“Traffic reports are showing that about 90% of the state’s pedestrian fatalities are happening in Clark County, and too many of those involve speeding,” said Dean Tingey, an accident injury attorney at the firm, which has been representing injured pedestrians for more than 50 years. “Something needs to change. Our streets should be safe passageways, not danger zones.”
Las Vegas has seen rising pedestrian fatalities since 2019. The city faces unique challenges when it comes to pedestrian safety, with factors such as high foot traffic from tourists who are unfamiliar with the city’s layout and sidetracked by the glitz of the city. There’s also the problem of Vegas “never sleeping,” with its 24-7 entertainment bringing constant traffic. And finally, Las Vegas and Nevada as a whole are facing a speeding craze, with Nevada’s transportation officials reporting a nearly 50% increase in speed-related citations at or above 100 mph over the last two years.
As part of the month-long pedestrian safety awareness initiative, Tingey’s traffic accident lawyers are launching an informational campaign via their website, which contains informational materials on sharing the roads with pedestrians. They urge motorists to slow down, eliminate distractions, yield to pedestrians at crosswalks and intersections, look for pedestrians before turning, and use headlights at night to scan for foot traffic.
National Pedestrian Safety Month is observed every October. It raises awareness about the importance of pedestrian safety and promotes strategies to reduce pedestrian-related accidents and fatalities. The campaign encourages communities to come together, share knowledge, and implement safety measures to protect pedestrians.
