Doherty Enterprises, Inc. announced today that its popular Shannon Rose Irish Pubs in Clifton and Ramsey, NJ will be hosting their 9th Annual Punkin Chunkin pumpkin tossing competitions this Saturday, October 29th at 6 pm. Pumpkins are $10 each – with proceeds going to benefit St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, the world renowned pediatric treatment and research facility.
No slings or contraptions necessary for this chucking competition, just bring your best throwing arm. Small pumpkins will be hurled over a roped-off area of the parking lot as pub guests compete to toss a pumpkin of their choice into the designated Chunkin Patch. Most accurate throws are eligible to win great prizes – and there will be men’s, women’s, and children’s categories. For those a little less accurate, there will be pumpkin smashes galore for everyone to enjoy!
“Our Punkin Chunkin event is a fun-filled and safe way for entire families to celebrate Halloween,” said Tim Doherty, President and Chief Operating Officer of Doherty Enterprises. “Many of our favorite Halloween traditions stem from the Celtic festival of Samhain so this event aligns perfectly with the Shannon Rose mission to always wow our guests with an authentic Irish-pub experience.”
After the Chunkin competition, and starting at 9 pm, both Shannon Rose locations will host a Halloween Costume Contest where guests who dress-up can compete for exciting prizes while enjoying live music (at 10pm) and $5 Bud Lights and Blue Moons.
Both locations are also offering a special Shannon Rose Pumpkin Menu with selections such as Pumpkin Soup, Pumpkin & Mascarpone Ravioli, and Pumpkin Pie Cheesecake. $1 from each Pumpkin Menu item purchase will go to support the work of St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
“Fall is a great time to come visit your local Shannon Rose,” said Ed Doherty Chairman, and CEO of Doherty Enterprises who own The Shannon Rose. “Each October for 15 years we’ve been hosting great Halloween and football-related events featuring special menu items and autumnal drink specials. And for those in Clifton, it’s a great time to come see our newly remodeled restaurant. There’s always plenty to do and see!”
