The New Wine International Black Box Theatre Launches Dynamic Campaign Against Gay Bigotry

The New Wine International Black Box Theatre, a non-profit group located in New York City, is launching a powerful campaign on behalf of the LGBT community to stop gay bashing and gay bigotry. The group is selling posters and tee shirts to raise awareness, and will be producing, directing and performing an Off Broadway play in 2018.

New Wine International Black Box Theatre wants to let the world know in no uncertain terms that violence against LGBT people should not be tolerated in today’s society. But the sad fact of the matter is that this type of violence is on the increase. A recent report put out by the National Coalition of Anti-Violence Programs shows that more LGBT people have been killed in hate-violence-related homicides so far in 2017 than in all of 2016. And that number doesn’t even include the 49 people killed in the Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando.

The NCAVP says the statistics should be a “wake-up call.”

And Charles J. Lewis, a proud member of the New Wine International Black Box Theatre, couldn’t agree more. “The numbers are frightening,” he says. “People are dying because of gay bashing almost on a daily basis. What kind of society are we living in that allows this to happen? This is everybody’s problem and something needs to be done. That’s why we’re raising awareness.”

The world premiere of the New Wine International Black Box Theatre presentation “I Can’t Stop Loving You !!!” will take place in New York City in June, 2018. Written and directed by Frank Wellington James Jr. and Charles J. Lewis, the play will both entertain and educate audiences about the problem.
