Since 2014, Brown Automotive Group and William E. Schuiling have sponsored The Logan Phoenix Golf Open which is an event put on by James and Mary Stone in memory of their son, Logan Phoenix. Logan was diagnosed with congenital glioblastoma multiforme (GBM), a type of brain tumor, on October 24, 2012. The surgeon and oncologist were from the Children’s National Hospital in Washington D.C. and took outstanding care of Logan. Surgery had been performed to eradicate the tumor, but it was too vascular to be removed. Sadly, Logan passed away from related causes on October 25, 2012.
To continue Logan’s memory, and to help other families through the Children’s Miracle Network, all proceeds from The Logan Phoenix Golf Open go to the Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) hospitals at Children’s National. Funds go towards anything from routine doctor checkups, to the purchase of preemie diapers, to caring for children with terminal illnesses in our immediate area.
Through the 2013-2016 events, $21,600 has been raised for Children’s Miracle Network by the golf open. The 5th Annual Logan Phoenix Golf Open will be held on September 22, 2017 at The South Riding Golf Club, located in South Riding, VA. Brown’s Dulles Nissan, Brown’s Leesburg Hyundai, Brown’s Manassas Hyundai, Brown’s Manassas Subaru, Brown’s Manassas KIA and Brown’s Fairfax Mazda were all 2017 sponsors. The goal is to raise an additional $7,000 for the cause in 2017!
