The Greater Boston Food Bank (GBFB), a hunger relief organization serving 190 towns and cities in Eastern Massachusetts, selected Edamam as its nutrition data provider.
GBFB is using Edamam’s Nutrition Analysis API to obtain nutrient data for all recipes on https://clickncook.org. Data obtained from the API feeds into their internal stoplight nutrition ranking system, Supporting Wellness at Pantries (SWAP), which allows users to quickly identify healthy recipes.
“When we built Edamam’s API into Click ‘N Cook’s back end, we immediately noticed how quickly and easily the data was returned. We get accurate nutrition analyses in a fraction of the time it would take us to manually input the data, allowing us to be nimble when deciding if a recipe is appropriate for our audience,” said Adriene Worthington, RDN, LDN, Assistant Director of Nutrition with The Greater Boston Food Bank.
“Edamam is proud to work with GBFB. We believe that everyone should have access to healthy and nutritious food. Our missions are aligned and we are happy to provide support and preferential pricing to organizations such as GBFB that are making difference in people’s lives day in and day out.” added Victor Penev, Edamam’s Founder and CEO.
Edamam’s Nutrition Analysis service is used by a number of recipes sites, food companies and restaurants, including The Food Network, Bon Appetit, Barilla, Ocean Spray, Fresh&Co, Juice Generation and many more.
