The advancement is being led by Nobel prize winner Alan Heeger, who is hoping to produce a solar cell made from this method that will convert 9% of light energy that strikes it into raw electricity. This would put the revolutionary new cell on par with some the best polymer cells currently available.
Although this revolutionary process is still in the early stages of development, scientists believe it could become groundbreaking in the method of creating solar energy affordable for everybody.
