Murray, UT (PRUnderground) October 10th, 2023
Vizient Inc. recently recognized seven Intermountain Health hospitals in Utah as top performers in the United States for excellence in clinical quality and patient care with the Bernard A. Birnbaum, MD, Quality Leadership Award.
Intermountain Medical Center in Murray was recognized as a top performer in the category of comprehensive academic medical centers. Intermountain McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden, Intermountain St. George Regional Hospital, and Intermountain Utah Valley Hospital in Provo received awards in the category of large specialized complex medical care.
Vizient also recognized Intermountain Cedar City Hospital, Intermountain Layton Hospital, and Intermountain Logan Regional Hospital in the category of top performing community hospitals.
Intermountain is one of only two health systems in the nation to have seven hospitals honored with the award in 2023.
“To see so many of our hospitals being recognized on this list is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our caregivers towards patient care,” said Sue Robel, RN, region president at Intermountain Health. “It also shows whether a hospital be in a large city or smaller community, patients are going to receive the best care possible.”
Each year Vizient conducts a study of hospital performance based on six categories used to measure the quality of care. These include safety, mortality, effectiveness, efficiency, patient centeredness, and equity.
“Top performers demonstrate qualities of leadership and adaptability, and they leverage advanced analytics to enable their organizations to improve performance across the care continuum and in their communities,” said Byron Jobe, chief executive officer for Vizient. “These organizations set a high standard in patient care, and we’re proud to recognize their achievements.”
