Roswell to Host First Enduro-style Mountain Bike Race in Georgia to Benefit Trails at Big Creek Park

Local volunteer group, Roswell-Alpharetta Mountain Bike Organization (RAMBO), will host the first enduro mountain bike race in the State of Georgia on March 29th at Roswell’s popular Big Creek Park. The Big Creek Quick Six Enduro is focused on raising funds to enhance and expand the park’s trail system and provide new programs for area kids. The race field is limited to just 100 athletes who will race over six challenging stages for the lowest combined time.

“We’re proud to help maintain the trails at Big Creek Park, and the new enduro format of mountain bike racing fits perfectly with our trail system and our local riders. We have athletes from across the Southeast ready to conquer six fun stages all in an effort to help us do more for the Roswell cycling community.” – Brad Wender, President, Roswell-Alpharetta Mountain Bike Organization

“I have wanted to do something to help Big Creek Mountain Bike Trails even before opening my store.  We at Fresh feel very fortunate to have such a great asset in our community.  It is very close to my heart because it is where I learned to ride and fell in love with the sport of mountain biking.  The idea for this event has been in the works for over 2 years now, so to see it finally coming together is really exciting.  From the beginning I wanted to use this style of racing to help raise money and support for our local trail system.  My goal was to get our community of riders out racing and having fun while also helping raise money for a great cause.  This race format is new to the Southeast and it will be the first Enduro race held in Georgia.  What I love about it is the wide range of riders and disciplines this race format appeals to – XC Racers, Trail Riders, Weekend Warriors, Freeriders, Downhillers, you name it – but most importantly it appeals to young people.  We want to grow the sport and see people enjoying happier active more fulfilling outdoor lifestyles.  By having our Fresh Family Ride and a Kids Race/Ride at the Enduro it will help us to further achieve these goals.  We want to help families have fun and bond while exercising and riding their bikes.  We are really looking forward to this fundraising event! Can’t wait to see to everybody come race day!” – Shawn Brunner, Owner, Fresh Bike Service, Inc.

Enduro mountain bike racing is all the rage in Europe and is quickly taking off in the United States. Enduro racing balances bike-handling skills with physical endurance in a gravity-fed race format. In the Big Creek Quick Six Enduro, riders will traverse six, primarily downhill stages throughout Big Creek Park racing against the clock on each stage. The course includes drops, rocks, berms and more over a total race length of six miles and more than 600ft of combined elevation descent. In addition to the Enduro, we will also have a kids race and fun on the park’s skills trails known as “pumptracks”. Fresh Bike Service is flying in US 4X National Champion and Pro Enduro Racer, Ross Milan, for the event.  Ross will be doing a demonstration on the pumptracks for the kids.  He will also be taking pictures and signing autographs following the children’s race/ride.  All proceeds from the event benefit the mountain bike trails at Big Creek Park.

Event sponsor and local bike shop, Fresh Bike Service, will provide more than more than $5000 in raffle and race prizes to the athletes. Race timing equipment is provided by local Atlanta company MyLaps.com, who also provides timing systems for the Tour de France, NASCAR, and the Olympic Games.
