Today is the opening of a new art exhibition at JD Malat Gallery in London. Titled “Shiny Colourful Amusements for the Walls of the Bourgeoisie,” it is a solo show of the Scottish-born artist and poet Robert Montgomery, who is largely known for his large, illustrious light installations that have appeared at many exhibitions and public spaces worldwide. The new exhibition will run at JD Malat Gallery through November 2, 2019.
JD Malat Gallery is a young yet prominent fine art gallery established by the experienced curator and art dealer Jean-David Malat in 2018. Over the past year, the gallery has presented a series of high-quality art exhibitions, including seven solo shows by Andy Moses, Li Tianbing, Katrin Fridriks, Conrad Jon Godly, Santiago Parra, Zümrütoğlu, and Henrik Uldalen. JD Malat Gallery also actively participates in the international art fairs, such as ZONAMACO in Mexico City, Seattle Art Fair, and Contemporary Istanbul.
The new art exhibition at JD Malat Gallery, which officially opens its doors to the public today, is entirely dedicated to the work of Robert Montgomery. Held during Frieze London Art Week, it is set to captivate the artist’s worldwide following.
Robert Montgomery was born in Chapelhall, a beautiful village in North Lanarkshire, Scotland in 1972. Today, Montgomery is a well-established London-based artist, sculptor, and poet, whose distinctive black and white billboard works, ‘fire poems,’ and site-specific light installations are known around the world. Regarded as one of the leading figures in contemporary conceptual art, he uses light and text to create his famous installations, many of which are made in a “melancholic post-Situationist” tradition. Robert Montgomery has had many amazing solo exhibitions in the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Switzerland, Cyprus, and the United States. Besides, his works have been showcased at the renowned Victoria & Albert Museum in London, and they are in the permanent collection of the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, TX.
“Shiny Colourful Amusements for the Walls of the Bourgeoisie” at JD Malat Gallery features both Montgomery’s renowned lightworks and pieces made specifically for the exhibition, along with the artist’s works in other mediums, such as an electrifying exploration of color and painting. The art exhibition is on view at 30 Davies Street in Mayfair, London.
At Fine Art Shippers, we highly recommend visiting JD Malat Gallery to enjoy artworks by Robert Montgomery. “Shiny Colourful Amusements for the Walls of the Bourgeoisie” is, without a doubt, one of the most interesting and ambitious art exhibitions held in London this month. It is a great show that is sure to capture the hearts and minds of all connoisseurs of contemporary conceptual art.
