Since 2001, Renaissance Ranch has changed countless lives as a leading, faith-based addiction recovery center for men. Now, the Renaissance Ranch team is proud to announce the opening of their first drug rehab center especially for women in Heyburn, Idaho.
Located in Southeast Idaho near the Rocky Mountain range, Heyburn offers a beautiful, pastoral setting for women seeking to break free from substance use disorder. The center is called Renaissance Refuge and caters to the unique needs of women in recovery through modalities including individual therapy and group counseling. It offers residential, outpatient, and safe sober living home facilities. The Refuge focuses on the mental health needs at the root of the addiction, nurturing resilience and equipping women with strong coping strategies for long-term success.
According to Preston Dixon, Renaissance Ranch C.O.O., “We have found that men and women respond differently to treatment and need different types of support to recover. The Refuge is the ultimate safe space for women. They are coming together, building a connection with each other that can’t be broken, feeling unconditional support in this community of sisters, and learning to love themselves.”
Preston and his brother Tyson Dixon were both addicted to drugs before beginning their recovery journeys more than 20 years ago. Many of the staff members at Renaissance Ranch drug treatment facilities, including the women-only Renaissance Refuge, are in recovery, allowing them to be especially sensitive and helpful to others in recovery.
Preston said that women frequently use with their partners, so getting them away from triggering situations helps them rediscover their identity and work toward constructive goals for the future. Treatment is based on a 12-step approach and focuses heavily on mental health to address the issues behind each patient’s substance abuse disorder. Above all, the center is grounded in faith to help women find purpose in their identity as a child of God.
The Refuge works toward family reunification. “Many of the women in our program are mothers whose addictions have broken their families apart,” said Preston. “Some have even had their children taken away. We offer individual and family support for both the addicted person and their family members so that they can heal and learn to operate as a functional, loving family once again.”
