Industry: Entertainment & Games

Chicago, USA (PRUnderground) September 7th, 2020

Based out of Chicago, YaThatIsAll is a talented rapper who makes unique music. He Began taking rap seriously when his father sent him to West Africa as a kid to escape some of the turbulence on Chicago’s South side. While there he would learn to record and mix his raps from his friends 2Phat and Ex-One. After returning to the US, Ya saw success with his Solo debut project “Ya-B Presentz: The Rap Lesson”, which received widespread recognition in 2008 after being stamped by Charles “Chilly” Patton; the founding partner of Lupe Fiasco’s FNF records and DJ Cool Hurc who is popularly known to be the founder of the HipHop genre.

YaThatIsAll continued to make his mark in Chicago Music culture. In 2010 he began releasing Afrobeat Raps which started receiving heavy play at Afro Fusion Club events across the country; soon he was opening shows for Don Jazzy’s Maven Records artists and would eventually go on to tour with Nigerian superstar 2-Face Idibia. After returning he released 2011’s “Orginal Akata Music” where he featured fellow Chicago AfroBeat Rappers like Titi LoKei, ImSayyi, Anola, Mikey O and Dolumite.

As a world class MC YaThatIsAll has always had more than enough practice to hone his mixing ability so as a kind of lost tapes compilation he released his 2012 Mixtape “Ya-B Presentz: They of Judgement” which featured beats from acclaimed Dipset Producer AraabMuzik and was Hosted by Chicago HipHop Connesiuer DJ Taigo Onez.

Later that year Peeda Pan, a long time colleague and close friend of Ya’s began managing a group of new-age rap artists and was looking to push them to the next level. YaThatIsAll then recorded the “Life of A Savage” mixtape series with SD, which to this day is arguably one of the best drill scene mixtapes to come out of Chicago. “As a result I went on to mix a number of Singles for Chicago rap legend Chief Keef including “They Know”, “I Got Cash”, “O Block or No Block”, “Randy Moss”, “No Reason”, “The Almighty So Mixtape”, “Wait” and many others,” says YaThatIsAll. “These singles would garner 100’s of millions of views on YouTube giving a huge boost to my notoriety and so that year I released my Single “All We Smoke Is Gas” featuring GBE Dro, which was very well received by Radio Stations in Chicago”, he adds.

YaThatIsAll is now set to take ahead his next and most recent musical endeavor with the long-overdue mixtape titled “Proof”. “Proof” is scheduled for a release on September 16, 2020. Over the years, YaThatIsAll has lost many of his artists and colleagues to violence in Chicago and has himself been shot 3 times including in the Chest and in the stomach. To illustrate the story in his upcoming mixtape, YaThatIsAll will use comic book style fan art that will be released on his Instagram.

“Proof” is very close to the YaThatIsAll’s heart as it contains a posthumous feature from GBE Bloodmoney who is an older cousin of Chief Keef and one of the artists YaThatIsAll was very close to. As a Chicago rapper YaThatIsAll looks forward to putting out an entire collection called “RapComics”, and “Proof” is a significant part of it.

His 2018 released track “Hold On” alongside Nigerian pop artist Lola Savage which was very well received and was given an amazing review by renowned culture curator, Scoop B. He said, “The rhythmic, naija anthem sheds light on the new Afro Beat movement and “Hold On” video is at forefront of it.”

YaThatIsAll’s music style is a mix of Afro Beat with Hip Hop and Rap. He likes to call it “Akata Music” which as he would put it is “an urbanized kind of AfroPop”. The element that makes YaThatIsAll’s story stand out from the rest is that it includes real-life encounters from the real artists and the listeners can get to learn a lot from his experiences and story. He shares different stories on his Instagram account daily for the fans to stay updated.
