Documentary film producer Paul Roberts launched an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign on Saturday to help obtain the final funding required to finish and release “Diagnosing Healthcare,” a documentary film about health care reform.
The social impact health care reform documentary was shot on-location in Tampa and Washington, D.C., and is in the final stages of post-production with a tentative release set for mid-spring.
“We have laid a lot of ground work, but we need additional funding for post-production, marketing and distribution costs to push this project across the finish line,” said Roberts. “With the support of the public, I know we can achieve the goals of this inspiring grassroots movement to change our health care system for the better and improve the lives of all Americans, and hopefully those living in other countries, as well.”
According to the crowdfunding page, rewards being offered include refrigerator magnets, autographed movie posters, private movie downloads, associate producer and producer credits, authentic movie clapperboards, executive producer credits, and dinner with members of the cast and crew in Tampa.
Production of “Diagnosing Healthcare” began in early September with principal photography taking place on-location in Tampa, Florida and Washington, D.C., producers said. The film is being produced by Roberts, who is a health care expert, and directed by Emmy-award winning director Tim Moore.
“Diagnosing Healthcare” is a feature-length documentary, which covers a variety of problems plaguing the American health care system including rising costs and inefficiencies with the system. However, it not only focuses on the problems, but the film also showcases two fully developed proposed solutions, which could reportedly save taxpayers $1.4 trillion annually.
