Priority Waste Hires Dozens of New Employees for Flint Waste Service Contract

The company has brought on 37 new hires to handle trash collection services in Flint, Michigan

After taking on the trash collection duties for the City of Flint, MI, Priority Waste has been committed to hiring additional local talent to service the city. “The majority of the new hires are residents of Flint,” said a company spokesperson. Adding that the employees that the company hired from Flint are “truly helping them make a bigger difference in the city, beyond basic trash collection.”
“When you hire people that live inside the community that they service, they kind of give that extra touch, extra love, extra care,” Dan Venet, director of municipal relations with Priority Waste, reported, noting the since of pride that individuals have when working in their own community. Venet said when taking on this contract, “it was a must that the company hire local employees to take on trash collection in the city of Flint and it has been inspiring to see their level of care.”
During the initial weeks of providing service in Flint, “our crews went above and beyond their job requirements, taking on some clean-up work that would help to improve conditions around the city. “I think that was a huge effort that kind of reset the service for Flint and the residents and hopefully they have seen that and know that we’re in it for the long haul, it will be something we continue to keep an eye on,” Venet said.
Venet added that while 20 employees from the city of Flint is a good start, he looks forward to bringing even more on board as the company moves ahead.
