Orlando Health Law Attorney Featured In Bloomberg Law Article About COVID-19

The Health Law Firm announced that one of its health law attorneys, George F. Indest III, was recently interviewed for Bloomberg Law News and quoted extensively about ongoing problems for the health industry during the COVID-19 pandemic. The article discusses, among other issues, how hospitals are lacking critical medical supplies, essential guidance and health care staff to treat the influx of patients.

According to the article in Bloomberg Law News, medical providers are working under a triage sense of urgency. Meaning, efforts to help some patients will have to be prioritized over others based on who is more likely to survive. This could lead to numerous negligence and wrongful-death cases after the peak of the pandemic. Hospitals during this time will have to be incredibly careful in their decisions of which patients are prioritized as well as the recordings of those decisions as to avoid these cases.

In the article, Mr. Indest is quoted saying: “Every hospital out there has a mass casualty plan for a plane crash or a tornado or something like 9/11,” he said, referring to Joint Commission standards, and conducts regular drills on “who to pass on, who to send to another facility, who to put aside until later. It’s probably just never been expected that something of this nature would happen.”

Mr. Indest is quoted extensively in the article for his many years of experience in health care law and regulatory and compliance matters.
