Neal Stoll, Retired Attorney of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP, of New York, New York, was recently chosen for the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award in Law for 2021 by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP) for his influence, proficiency and dedication to his profession.
While inclusion with the International Association of Top Professionals is an honor in itself, only a few members are selected for the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award. These special honorees are distinguished based on their longevity in their fields, their contributions they have made to society and the impact they have had on their industries. Mr. Stoll is being recognized for having over 45 years of professional experience in antitrust litigation. As a dynamic, results-driven leader, he has demonstrated success as an Attorney. Mr. Stoll has extensive knowledge of mergers, acquisitions involving antitrust matters of law. He has represented companies such as EcoLab Inc, the May Department Store Co. and the Coca-Cola Co. Mr. Stoll was lead counsel in the cases of United States vs. The Gillette Company and the United States vs. the Rank Organisation Plc.
His impressive repertoire of prior roles began with his Associate level entry at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP in 1973 to 1981. Over the course of his employment as a legal professional, Mr. Stoll maintained his involvement as Partner from 1981 until 2017. Mr. Stoll retired in 2018.
Some of the numerous highlights cited by Mr. Stoll, were his litigation success records against the Justice Department and Federal Trade Commission (FTC). He had only one loss to the FTC but not a single loss to the Justice Department. As his proudest merit, Mr. Stoll regarded his work on the merger of Deloitte & Touche, consistently striving for excellence.
Before embarking on his professional career path, Mr. Stoll earned his Bachelor of Arts from the Honors Program in history with distinction from Pennsylvania State University in 1970. He later obtained his Doctor of Jurisprudence from Fordham University in 1973. Mr. Stoll achieved his bar certification in New York in 1974 and his certification from the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York and the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. He continued to earn more certifications for the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit in 1982 and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan in 1983. Mr. Stoll received his final certification in 1986 from the Supreme Court of the United States.

Throughout his illustrious career, Mr. Stoll has received many awards, accolades and has been featured in publications for his outstanding leadership and commitment to the legal industry. This year he will receive his Lifetime Achievement Award, be featured on the famous Thomas Reuters Billboard in Times Square NYC, and he graced the front cover of TIP (Top Industry Professionals) Magazine. He was also chosen as Attorney of the Year for 2020 by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP). In addition to these awards, Mr. Stoll was recognized with the Top New York Lawyer Award and in 2001 he received the Penn State Liberal Arts Graduate Achievement Award. He was a recipient listed multiple times with Marquis Who’s Who as a dedicated Lawyer, as well as being repeatedly included in Who’s Who Finance and Business, Who’s Who in Finance and Industry, Who’s Who in American Law, Who’s Who in the East, Who’s Who in the World and Who’s Who of Emerging Leaders in America.
As a compliment to his successful law career, Mr. Stoll served as a lecturer for the Practicing Law Institute in New York City and served on the Trade Regulation Committee for the New York City Bar Association. He has contributed to articles for professional publications. He co-authored the Antitrust and Trade Regulation column for the New York Law Journal from 1981 until 2013. Additionally, he co-authored the “Acquisitions Under the Hart Scott Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act” in 1980, 1988 and 2008. He is a Member of the American Bar Association and the New York State Bar Association.
Looking back, Mr. Stoll attributes his success to his perseverance, his ability to partner with notable colleagues and remaining passionate in his endeavors. When not working he enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, collecting fountain pens and vintage watches. For the future, he hopes that his life’s work has made a positive impact on society and can be used to make a difference in the lives of others.
