The law firm Nadrich & Cohen, LLC has voiced its support for the US Food and Drug Administration’s plan to propose a ban on chemical hair-straightening products such as chemical relaxers, since they’ve been associated with health issues such as uterine cancer and breast cancer.
Products with formaldehyde and chemicals that release formaldehyde such as glycol and methylene would be restricted if the FDA’s rule is passed. Once the rule is issued, the FDA will ask for public comments submitted via the Federal Government’s website.
Research by the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) suggests that those who used hair-straighteners more than four times annually were almost twice as likely to be diagnosed with uterine cancer compared to those that didn’t use hair-straighteners.
“The negative health impact for generations of women is just now coming to light,” says Jeffrey Nadrich, lead partner at the law firm Nadrich and Cohen. “We have a duty to protect current and future generations from harm caused by these products.”
If you’ve used hair straightening products in the past and developed uterine cancer or ovarian cancer, you may be qualified for financial compensation. Nadrich & Cohen have handled successful product liability cases for decades. Contact their staff at +1(800)718-4658 for a free consultation today.
