Black Friday continues to be a vital sales day for major retailers with sales for 2017 set to break last year’s total. This year’s holiday season sales are expected to be up 4.5% on last year’s $650 billion record spend.
The Black Friday sales week has transitioned over the years from an in-store sales day to a week long event with purchases just as likely to be made online as in physical stores. Last year over half of total spending on Black Friday was online (52%), marking a continued shift towards e-commerce for the Black Friday & Cyber Monday weekend.
