Ten cannabis industry startups will present their ancillary business ideas, traction, and visions of the future to Bay Area tech investors at 3pm on June 18th at CanopyBoulder’s Oakland Demo Day. This first-of-its-kind event is designed to present best in class marijuana startups to the Bay Area investing community. The Canopy Demo Day is also a benefit for the National Cannabis Industry Association.
“The cannabis industry will never be smaller than it is today,” said Canopy co-founder and CEO Patrick Rea. “Now is the time to get involved and invest in the companies who are creating the backbone of the legal marijuana industry.”
The spring 2016 class of CanopyBoulder includes innovative cannabis tech, data, hardware, plant sciences, biotech, fintech and discovery commerce companies all focused on the burgeoning cannabis industry. The companies pitching will include SPARE, weeGrow, iDro, Stashbox, Pensimple/JAEB Designs, SPRK Labs, Wurk, Quantified Vapor, Front Range Biosciences and VaporSlide.
“Launching a business in the cannabis industry is not easy, but the opportunities are immense – both for entrepreneurs and investors,” said Micah Tapman, COO and Partner in Canopy. “We believe there are strong value-add investment opportunities for investors to capitalize on the growth of the legal marijuana market through tech investments in the space.”
