Karen Anzoategui Returns In HULU Original Series East Los High – Season 4 – Premiering July 15th

ANZOATEGUI PLAYS QUEER CHARACTER DAYSI CANTU, WHO ORIGINALLY DEBUTED IN SEASON 3 OF THE EMMY NOMINATED SERIES

Twice Emmy nominated original HULU series, East Los High Season 4, premieres today, July 15th, and returns with recurring guest star, Latinx/Gender Queer/Trans Actor, Karen Anzoategui in the role of Daysi Cantu. The new season is available online at https://www.hulu.com/east-los-high. (Please note that pronouns used in this press release, they/ them vs. she/ he, reflect the gender non-conforming preference of queer Actor Karen Anzoategui.)

After East Los High’s Bomb Squad star Eddie gets deported because of his undocumented status, Daysi is faced with the reality of having a friend get deported and wonders how they can help a beloved schoolmate whose life is in danger. In Season 4, Daysi uses this opportunity to show their creative skills to help Eddie.  We also see Daysi rise to the occasion and grow into an artivist (artist/activist), taking a risk and a position against what they see as injustices of society; addressing immigration rights in order to help Eddie.  In the meantime, what will happen to Daysi and Jocelyn? Watch Season 4 to learn what transpires with their love triangle, as things get heated.

Karen Anzoategui made heads turn as the openly queer star of East Los High in Season 3. As their character Daysi, Karen “schooled” the Bomb Squad on trans and queer issues.  Anzoategui is an actor and community artivist of Argentinean and Paraguayan decent, based in Northeast Los Angeles. Karen’s solo show,  ¡Ser!, a queer transnational soccer theater production that features originally scored music by CAVA and Louie Perez of Los Lobos, is a two-time LA Weekly award winner and critically acclaimed solo show that got the attention of East Los High producers, and led to casting Anzoategui in the amiable, recurring guest star role.
