Just five days remains before the HITLAB Women’s Health Tech Challenge application deadline. Dozens of innovators from all around the globe have already applied for their chance to win prizes valued up to $10,000 and investment consideration. Just one week remains before the May 3rd application deadline for the virtual challenge, set to take place on May 21st. Innovators utilizing technology to create meaningful solutions for issues pertaining to women’s health should consider applying as soon as possible.
“The ‘FemTech’ industry is a rapidly evolving women’s health digital solution space that has attracted a flock of technologists, innovators, and entrepreneurs. Through Women’s Health Tech, an initiative founded by HITLAB in 2019, our mission is to promote and provide resources to leaders in the field of ‘FemTech’ and offer a platform to empower women’s health technology around the world. Within the first year, we have helped create a reality where companies at the intersection of technological innovation and women’s health issues have equal access to building, funding, and scaling their ‘FemTech’ solutions,” said Savira Dargar, Director of the Women’s Health Tech Initiative.
The Women’s Health Tech Initiative, entering its third challenge since inception, was created by HITLAB, a digital health research and testing laboratory located in New York City. The initiative exists to foster a community of female leaders in healthcare working toward equality in the industry and accelerate solutions for women’s health issues. By partnering with organizations across the spectrum of the healthcare and tech industries, HITLAB is able to develop this initiative and award impactful technologies with meaningful catalytic prizes and opportunities.
The May 21st Women’s Health Tech Challenge is hosted in a virtual format by McDermott Will & Emery. Following the application deadline on May 3rd, dozens of applications will be narrowed down to a top 4 through a rigorous evaluation by HITLAB and a panel of independent judges. On May 21st, the finalists will have the opportunity to pitch in front of a world-wide audience for their chance at investments and prizes. The Women’s Health Tech Challenge winner will be awarded a grand prize of $6,000, made possibly by NURX. The 2nd place innovation will receive up to $10,000.00 worth of in-kind services from HTD Health. The innovator coming in 3rd place will be awarded a 1 year membership to Health Innovation Alliance and up to 10 hours of in-kind services from Horizon Government Affairs. The 4th place innovation will receive up to 25 Hours of in-kind services from HITLAB to evaluate the team’s submission for a research study in the HITLAB Breakthrough Alliance.
In addition to these prizes, the The Cavendish Impact Foundation will present the Catalytics Impact Solutions Award, an investment of up to $20,000.00 to select innovators. Lastly, Executive Committee members RG+A will award select innovators with the Women’s Health Tech Pioneer Award, up to 25 Hours of in-kind services from RG+A.
“In addition to the prizes and investment opportunity, the Challenge day is an amazing way to get to know the stakeholders of the ‘FemTech’ field. The event brings in a diverse group of people, from government strategists to patent attorneys, all united in the goal of progressing the field forward and promoting innovative solutions that make real change,” added Abby Stern, Manager of the Women’s Health Tech Initiative. Those interested in applying must act quickly, as the application deadline is just days away.
The Women’s Health Tech Challenge is an event that is open to the public, featuring keynote speakers such as Jessica Horwitz, VP Clinical Operations at NURX, Inc., Lora DiCarlo, Founder and CEO of Lora DiCarlo, and Alice Zheng, Women’s Health Practice Leader at McKinsey & Company.
