Fine Art Shippers, an international fine art shipping company, is pleased to introduce the incredibly talented Italian artist Michela Crisostomi whose poetic paintings push the boundaries of contemporary figurative art. Crisostomi’s works are somewhat reflections of both the past and the present, showing figures and faces as if trapped in time. It is almost impossible to resist touching the canvas to see if it is really a painting, not an old mural recently uncovered and restored.
Michela Crisostomi lives and works in Terni, a delightful city in central Italy, where she was born in 1976. After graduating from the Liceo Artistico Orneore Metelli di Terni and the Florence Academy of Art, Michela worked at the cartoon publishing company as a scenographer and stop motion animator. Later, she taught painting and drawing at the Progetto Interamna and the Art School in Terni. For today, Crisostomi is an established visual artist largely known for her poetic figurative paintings of contemporary women.
Michela Crisostomi has a very distinctive painting style that represents a perfect combination of hyper realistic art, surrealism, and portraiture. Based on the idea of rediscovering images on the old walls, her sensual paintings, most of which depict idealistic forms of a woman, look like old murals that belong to another space and time. This becomes possible thanks to a very interesting technique used by the artist in her work. Michela Crisostomi applies acrylic putties on canvas and then scratches the surface to varying degrees in order to create a background reminiscent of an ancient wall, sometimes adding metal details to it. The figures and faces are painted in acrylic with the use of a paintbrush and a toothbrush.
Michela Crisostomi’s works have been exhibited at gallery exhibitions and art fairs around the world since 2010. In particular, her magnificent paintings appeared at the Affordable Art Fair in New York, Brussels, Milan, Singapore, and Paris, as well as at such prestigious art shows as Fresh: Art Fair in London, art KARLSRUHE, Bergamo Arte Fiera, and Melbourne Art Fair.
It is always a pleasure for Fine Art Shippers to meet inspiring artists and help them spread their art throughout the world. Michela Crisostomi is, without a doubt, one of the most talented contemporary Italian painters, who is not afraid to push the boundaries of traditional figurative art. Filled with poetry, charm, and grace, her works are absolutely breathtaking, making each of them a worthy addition to any collection. If you are looking for something unique and different to gratify your passion for art, Fine Art Shippers highly recommends that you visit Michela Crisostomi’s exhibitions at your earliest opportunity!
