Interpreters and Translators, Inc. (iTi) is proud to announce its platinum sponsorship of MassAHEC Network’s Paving the Way to Health Care Access Conference 2018.
The 13th annual conference is best described as two days of learning for interpreters and health care teams. The event will be held on June 8 & 9, 2018 at the Best Western Royal Plaza Hotel in Marlborough, MA. A variety of workshops with an array of topics will be presented throughout the two-day conference as well as a keynote address from Abigail R. Averbach, MSc, Assistant Commissioner and Director, Office of Population Health, MA Department of Public Health on June 8th. The conference also offers a variety of workshops which certified interpreters can apply as CEUS for an additional fee.
iTi has been actively involved in the advocacy of medical interpreter certification for over a decade. President Francesco Pagano was a very active member in the beginning stages of the process working with the various stakeholders to determine the best way to move the 30 year old conversation of certification forward.iTi is committed to raising the standards of interpreting in the language services industry by developing the skills of interpreters through events such as this.
Medical interpreter certification in relation to health equity continues to be one of the most pressing issues facing the healthcare and language services communities. Effective communication between patients and providers is one of the best way to improve health disparities.
