IAOTP honors William H. Miller CEO for Kean University Foundation

William H. Miller, CEO for the Kean University Foundation, was recently selected as Top CEO of the Year of 2021 by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP). Mr. Miller was selected for his outstanding leadership, dedication, and commitment to the philanthropic industry.

Inclusion with the International Association of Top Professionals is an honor in itself; only a few members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, longevity in a field, professional affiliations, and contributions to their respective communities. Mr. Miller is passionate about working with non-profit organizations and he has extensive experience and success in fund development. He has assisted regional, national, and international organizations with major gift initiatives, annual giving programs, planning and feasibility studies, development audits and philanthropic capability assessments, endowment programs, board training and development, corporate and foundation relations, prospect research, and campaign management.

As the CEO of the Kean University Foundation, Mr. Miller provides leadership for the full range of fund development activities, with an emphasis on pursuing and securing private support to benefit Kean University’s students, faculty, programs, and/or facilities.

Throughout his career, Mr. Miller is proud to have been part of projects that have raised over a total of one billion dollars. His previous roles include the Regional Chief Development Officer for the American Red Cross, the Chief Development Officer for the Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of New York, and the Executive Director for the Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh’s record-breaking capital and endowment campaign.

In addition to his fundraising efforts, Mr. Miller has also taught at Duquesne University and created an internship program at Carnegie-Mellon University for students interested in fund development and the non-profit sector. Throughout his illustrious career, he has received numerous awards and accolades, including being named a 40 under 40 rising star in the New York non-profit sector for 2016. In 2018 he was named a 40 under 40 by NJBIZ and was also recently recognized by Continental Who’s Who, as well as Marquis Who’s Who. He is one of only 8,000 fundraising professionals in the world to have earned the designation of Certified Fund Raising Executive. In 2021, he is being considered for a feature in TIP (Top Industry Professionals) Magazine by IAOTP.

Looking back, Mr. Miller attributes his success to a lot of hard work and luck. He is especially grateful for his family, friends, education, and the mentors he has had along the way. When not working, he enjoys spending time with loved ones, reading, running, and trying to golf. In the future, he hopes to continue to make a positive impact on society through his professional efforts.
