Hip Hop Soldier Von T discusses balancing the military while creating music on KRXM Radio

Captain Channing Von Taylor is a 15 year Army veteran. He has fought proudly for our country during his deployment to Iraq.  He has represented the Army with the utmost respect throughout his career while rising through the ranks to Captain.  He has honored his commitment to the military without question over his 15 year career earning many awards and medals.  As it turns out though, Mr. Taylor has more to offer than just his military career.  Mr. Taylor is also an up and coming hip hop artist.

Mr. Taylor, better known as Von-T to his loyal fans, is a multi talented songwriter and rapper.  Von has been working hard in the music industry to make a name for himself while being on active duty in the US Army.  Von released his single and video for “Turn off the Lights “ in early 2019 which quickly became a viral sensation.  It racked up over 1 million views on World Star Hip Hop and shined the spotlight on this rising star.  Von has since been signed to Slapbox Music and released his first single of 2020 called “Whip” featuring Ty Dolla $ign.  This single is expected to make an even bigger wave in the Hip Hop world.

Von’s road from soldier to hip hop artist has not been easy.  He has faced a lot of closed doors and backlash from those he thought would be some of his biggest supporters.  He recently sat down with Jeffrey Vaughan from KRXM Radio to open up about some of these obstacles.  He and Jeff talk about dealing with his rising fame, the social unrest going on in the country and how it affects his life.  They also talk in depth about the struggles he is facing while trying to balance being a soldier and a hip hop artist while staying true to himself.
