The shop stems from this, everything I sell I love, the purpose of Grey is the new Black is not just to sell online homeware and gifts, it’s to interact

The idea for Grey is the new Black started 20 years ago (although I didn’t know it then) with a grey baby corduroy maxi skirt. I loved that skirt, I could dress it up, dress it down. It was long, and comfortable and the colour was perfect. My Mother, for reasons best known to herself threw it away, threw it away! I always suspected she hated it (alongside 90% of my wardrobe).
Anyway, while I still haven’t forgiven her (and never will Barbara) I do have her to thank for my 20-year obsession with finding an exact replica… AND the colour Grey. Grey clothes, grey wall coverings, grey soft furnishings… You name it, I have it. The shop stems from this, everything I sell I love, the purpose of Grey is the new Black is not just to be an online shop for homeware and gifts, it is to interact, to be a work in progress, to change and grow and, who knows where it will lead me/us?!
In recent years I have grown to love print, and craft in general. This new love, will hopefully grow into a collaborative space whereby I will sell prints on behalf of some of my favourite and very talented printmakers (and various other printed items). I’m also hoping to hold workshops in Manchester, based on designing and creating your own interior decorations, from terrariums to pots to printed tea towels.
Anyway, thank you for reading! If you like what you see and where I’m going with this by all means sign up to my newsletter at www.greyisthenewblackco.uk to stay informed of the goings on!
P.s if any of you out there have a grey baby corduroy maxi skirt from Warehouse circa 1996 you know what to do…
