Neurala’s Selfie Dronie™ For Apple iOS Creates Exciting, Hands-Free, Aerial, Video Selfies and Dronies For Drones From Multiple Vendors
Boston (PRUnderground) July 18th, 2016
Neurala Selfie Dronie today released a new version of its advanced artificial intelligence, deep learning and vision software that creates a self-flying, autonomous drones using the highly popular consumer drones. The new version adds support for the DJI Phantom 3 (except Standard), DJI Phantom 4 drones, in addition to the already supported Parrot Bebop and Parrot Bebop 2 drones.
Neurala Selfie Dronie is already the most widely used consumer app for controlling robots or drones using artificial intelligence and deep learning. It is the same basic technology that Neurala is developing for use on commercial drones, self-driving cars and other consumer products. Neurala is a Boston-based robotics company known for its high-end robotic intelligence software designed for use by NASA and the US Air Force.
To fly the drone, a consumer selects the subject of the video on an iPhone or iPad and then selects either selfie or dronie. The choices are as follows:
- A selfie, which flies an arc around the video’s subject (up to 180-degrees) while keeping the drone camera pointed directly at the subject.
- A dronie, which zooms the drone backward and upwards to take beautiful aerial panoramic videos while keeping the drone camera pointed directly at the subject.
The Neurala software analyzes what the camera sees and automatically sends commands to fly the drone while keeping the video on the subject as it flies. It is not necessary to wear a special device or to carry a cell phone, as other solutions require.
“We are disrupting the market. You don’t need $1000 specialized self-flying camera drones plus a different drone for your flying hobby. You can buy an industry standard drone, add our software, and use one drone for everything,” said Massimiliano Versace, Neurala CEO.
Neurala Selfie Dronie is available now for iOS from the Apple AppStore and will soon be available from Google Play. An iPad Air, iPad Air 2, iPad Mini 3, iPhone 5s or iPhone 6 is required. The app supports the DJI Phantom 3 (except for Standard), DJI Phantom 4, Parrot Bebop and Parrot Bebop 2.
