Danbury, CT (PRUnderground) October 18th, 2013
Fort Collins resident Michelle Lindquist was chosen as the grand prize winner of the New View Window Treatment Makeover photo contest presented by TotalHousehold.com and the Window Coverings Association of America (WCAA).
Contestants all over the country submitted pictures of windows that were in need of new coverings for a chance to win the $1,000 window makeover prize package. At the end of the submission period, photos were reviewed by the judging panel, WCAA National Board of Directors members Linda Principe, WCAA President; Michele Williams, WCAA Vice-President and owner of The Scarlet Thread, LLC; Ronica VanGelder, WCAA Secretary and owner of Ronica’s Custom Creations; and Carol Collord, WCAA Treasurer and owner of Creations by Carol.
Michelle, who submitted a photo of windows in her twin daughters’ bedroom, described the windows as “problematic.” After trying several different window treatments over the years, Michelle struggled to find something that fit. Her daughters, Megan and Morgan, are now 18-year-old artists who recently graduated from Poudre High School and in need of a more grown-up style.
As the grand prize winner, Michelle will receive a $500 check and a consultation and sketch of a new window treatment, valued at $500, from Linda Principe, who is also the owner of Linda Principe Interiors LLC, an independent custom interior decorating firm providing services in the New Jersey and Bucks County, PA area since 1988.
“There were many viable candidates who submitted photos, and it was a tough decision,” said Principe. “This entry was selected because the window treatment clearly was not working—an old roller shade, the blanket draped down one side in an attempt to block light and disheveled drapery panels with one hanging straight and one pulled back.”
TotalHousehold.com, a resource that empowers homeowners with free information and access to local contractors, ran the contest in conjunction with the launch of its national website. “TotalHousehold.com was thrilled to partner with WCAA, a wonderful home design industry association, and to give Michelle her dream window makeover,” said director of content and marketing Julie Davis.
TotalHousehold’s national launch comes as the housing market continues on its comeback from the recession and people again want to make improvements in their homes. “With an increase in new homeowners as well as people who can now afford the upgrades they had been putting off, we’re seeing great demand for new products, advice and searches for contractors. Our mission is to give people the tools they need to make informed decisions,” said Jeff LaCava, TotalHousehold founder and CEO. “We do that through interviews with experts, FAQs on home repair and renovation topics and a library of consumer protection issues.”
The window treatment design created for Michelle will be posted on TotalHousehold.com and its Pinterest contest board in the weeks to come.
