Food stock management behemoth ReMe Basket merges with Nosh Technologies

Nosh Technologies, a company which develops AI powered smartphone apps for food management, acquires ReMe Basket Ltd., a company which develops smartphone apps to reduce food waste and save money from every individual's pocket.

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit the world, it changed the way people shop and stock food – from stockpiling groceries in the early weeks of the crisis to shopping less often, at different times and in different ways. This has led to the risk of having more food waste and in response, Somdip Dey, Suman Saha, Anupam Ghosal and Lakshya Gupta co-created the nosh app, which is capable of reminding the users of the expiry date of the stocked items before they expire. The nosh app is powered by Artificial Intelligence (AI) to deliver trends such as user’s buying and food wasting habits such that the user can make an informed decision on what food to buy the next time to reduce food waste in the household. The app is available for free to download with no in-app purchases from Google Play Store and Apple App Store. Nosh has already gained more than one thousand active users in its first month of release, and has also ranked 8th for “Top New Free” apps in the Productivity category in the UK’s Google Play Store, and is ranked 887th among the millions of apps in the UK’s Apple App Store.
The project team, which consists of computer scientists from the University of Essex, U.K. and University of Engineering and Management (UEM) in Kolkata, has now founded a tech start-up called Nosh Technologieswith support from StudioX of the University of Essex.
In order to expand expertise and resource in the food stock management business, Nosh Technologies has acquired ReMe Basket Ltd, a company founded in 2017, which specializes in developing food stock management smartphone app to reduce food waste in the household. Somdip Dey, co-founder and CEO of Nosh Technologies claims, “At the moment we are expanding our expertise so that our flagship product, nosh – Food Stock Management app, is capable of providing better services to our users and contribute to the Zero Waste movement.
