Financial Advisor Brandon Prettyman Continues To Impress In His Business And Golf Career

From college fairways to championship wins, Brandon’s journey in both golf and finance is a testament to his dedication, resilience, and the pursuit of excellence. It all began with his choice to play college golf at Methodist University in Fayetteville, NC- a 14 time national champion and a perennial powerhouse in Division III golf. Methodist has built a strong reputation as one of the top collegiate programs in the nation, and joining this team provided Brandon with a unique platform to develop his skills and embrace the competitive spirit.

While at Methodist, Brandon’s swing was shaped and refined under the guidance of one of the industry’s best. He worked closely with Eric Alpenfels, the renowned Director of Instruction at Pinehurst Resort and a Golf Digest Top 100 teacher. Alpenfels expertise in the golf swing proved transformative, elevating Brandon’s game to new heights and providing a foundation of skill and knowledge that would benefit him long after his college years. Brandon’s remarkable round of 63 in a qualifying event was even a school record that stood for many years. He achieved Academic All-Conference honors in 2007, reflecting his commitment to balancing academics with his passion for golf.

However, after graduating in 2008, Brandon took a step back from the fairways to focus on a different path; building Summit Wealth Advisors, a top financial services firm in Wilmington, DE. He poured his energy into the company and his clients, growing it into a trusted name in financial advising. The dedication he showed in his golf game was evident in his professional life, where he established a firm known for reliability and expertise.

By 2015, Brandon’s passion for golf reawakened, and he decided to return to the competitive scene. This time, he sought the guidance of another highly respected instructor, Becky Dengler. With her coaching, he regained his competitive edge and achieved remarkable success in the years that followed. Brandon’s return to competition bore fruit when we won the 2021 Philly PGA Section Pro-Am at the prestigious Whistling Straits in Kohler, Wisconsin.

The momentum continued in 2022, where Brandon collected four wins on the Philly Section Golfweek Amateur Tour and achieved an impressive 4th place finish out of 236 competitors at the Golfweek Amateur Tour National Championship in Hilton Head, South Carolina. In 2023, he added even more victories, with two wins on the Golfweek Amateur Tour and a triumph on the US Am Tour in May shooting an impressive 69 to claim the victory.

Brandon’s story is a powerful reminder that passion and dedication can transcend disciplines. Whether on the fairway or in the office, he continues to demonstrate that a commitment to excellence and the drive to constantly improve can lead to success across many stages of life.
