The Telly Awards have named Fidelity Broadcasting a Bronze winner in the 37th Annual Telly Awards for its piece titled Weekly Recap Halloween. The contest drew over 13,000 entries from all 50 states and numerous countries.

The Weekly Recap is a milestone for the Fidelity Local 6 channel. The show covers news from Sullivan to Lebanon along the I-44 corridor, as well as from West Plains in the Ozarks. Host/Producer Matt Wacker said he’s honored to receive this award.

“My thanks to the people who contribute to the Recap on a weekly basis, and to everyone who voted,” Wacker said. “This is very exciting. I can’t wait to see where we take the show from here. Onward and upward.”

The Telly Awards were founded in 1979 and remains the premier award honoring outstanding local, regional, and cable TV commercials and programs, the finest video and film productions, and online commercials, video and films. Winners represent the best work of the most respected advertising agencies, production companies, television stations, cable operators, and corporate video departments in the world.

For its 37th season, the Telly Awards will once again give the public the power to view and rate videos submitted as part of the People’s Telly Awards. In addition to recognition from the Silver Telly Council, the judging panel that selects the Telly Awards winners, the Internet community helps decide the People’s Telly Awards winners.

A judging panel of over 500 industry professionals, each a past winner of a Silver Telly and a member of the Silver Telly Council, judged the competition. The Silver Council evaluated entries to recognize distinction in creative work. Entries do not compete against each other but are judged against a high standard of merit. Less than 10 percent of entries are chosen as winners of the Silver Telly, the highest honor. About 25 percent are chosen as winners of the Bronze Telly.

“The Telly Awards has a mission to honor the very best in film and video,” said Linda Day, Executive Director of the Telly Awards. “Fidelity Broadcasting’s accomplishment illustrates their creativity, skill, and dedication to their craft and serves as a testament to great film and video production.”

“I knew the episode could potentially win right away,” said Kenny Perzan, Fidelity Local 6 Operations Manager.

“It is the type of thing you hope to see and is what local cable is all about. We have managed to assemble an amazing group of talent here at Fidelity Broadcasting. By consistently striving to raise the bar amongst ourselves, the door of possibility is wide open.”

Fidelity Broadcasting is part of parent company Fidelity Communications. The Broadcasting department is committed to delivering superior quality local content to the communities it serves, Perzan said.
