Internet car hire specialist helps UK travellers be better informed about excess policies and various rip offs
Lightwater, Surrey (PRUnderground) July 18th, 2011
Drivers who want to avoid paying way over the odds for excess insurance policies when renting a car have been thrown a lifeline by Carrentals.co.uk. The car hire price comparison specialist has launched a new scheme which sets out to stop people paying too much – in some cases up to £2,000 for excess policies – when they arrive at their car rental office.
The website reports that as many as 50% of people admit to feeling conned by excess insurance policies when collecting a vehicle at a car hire office. The policies offered at collection time often don’t cover hirers for things such as lost car keys, damaged wheels and windscreens and more.
Gareth Robinson, Managing Director of Carrentals.co.uk, said: “It seems clear that lots and lots of drivers feel that they are somewhat overcharged for insurance policies and excess cover when they arrive to pick up their rental cars. We want to help them avoid these schemes which can in many cases be designed purely to rip them off.”
“Our new campaign has been formulated to help people know the ins and outs of the excess insurance trade around car hire, and we have the experience to advise people correctly.”
The new Carrentals.co.uk scheme includes a useful video which advises travellers on what to watch out for – https://www.carrentals.co.uk/extras/car-hire-insurance. The website’s new Raising the Standard campaign also offers a chat forum for sourcing information, this located at https://forum.carrentals.co.uk/collision-damage-waiver-excess-insurance.
Also available through the Carrentals.co.uk website are dedicated excess insurance policies which are designed to offer car hirers clarity and value for money. The new cover deals can help people to save up to 60% versus policies on show at car hire offices.
“People can use the tools and policies on show in our new campaign to be both better informed and better off financially. Nobody wants to start a holiday feeling that they have just been ripped off with an incorrect or unclear excess insurance policy “, Gareth went on.
