Enjoy Mallorca and its February Carnivals on a Villa Holiday

February is carnival season in Mallorca, throughout the month, everywhere, from the island’s capital city of Palma to its many towns and villages become alive with celebrations and street parades.

Celebrating the start of Lent, the carnivals take place between the middle and end of the month, with many of the largest and most extravagant taking place in the city of Palma. The festivities in Palma kick off on the 18th and continue until the 19th, and a children’s parade, where children of all ages will dress up and parade through the city, takes place on the Saturday. Sunday is when the main parade takes place; lots of fancy dress, samba groups and dancers follow a long route through the city’s streets, creating a wonderful atmosphere.

As mentioned, Mallorca’s carnivals aren’t just limited to the city; those staying in our villas such as our villas in Pollensa will find local festivities taking place close by. Often village and town carnivals will last long into the night with outdoor events such as live music and children’s entertainment taking place, certainly great fun for all of the family.

Other carnivals of note in Mallorca include, the Sa Rua Carnival and Loulé Town Carnival taking place on the 12th and 19th of February.
