Today, the Dharampuriya Foundation, led by Dr. Rajesh Dharampuriya, announced its commitment to support the Infant Brain Center at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), which is committed to helping to provide exceptional medical care to infants born with, or are at-risk for, neurological impairment. Specifically, the foundation is supporting research, professional services, and patient safety into opiate withdrawal in neonates.
The Infant Brain Center at MGH is a formal collaboration among diverse clinical specialists with an overarching vision that infant brain health can be shaped by cutting-edge research and neurotherapeutics along with daily interactions and sensory experiences in the hospital and home environment. Treating a diverse population served by MGH, including those from the surrounding area and around the world, the Infant Brain Center accomplishes its goals with a collaborative approach.
“The birth of a child is an exciting moment; however, if born with neurological impairment, it can be an especially stressful time for the child and family. We are excited to join forces with the Infant Brain Center to help newborns and their families with exceptional medical care,” said Dr. Rajesh Dharampuriya. “We hope that by supporting The Infant Brain Center, we can help to drive forward research and innovation that will help treat infants born with neurological impairments through a focus on optimizing growth and development.”
