Dr. Michael Klassen MD has demonstrated philanthropic efforts in his substantial donation to the First Tee of Monterey County, a nonprofit organization that delivers a curated golf and character development course, academic support, career mentorship, and life skills to develop youth into game changers for the future.
“I am humbled to support First Tee — Monterey County in their efforts to equip the youth in our sate with the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed,” says Dr. Klassen, President of the California Orthopedic Association. “Life skills courses partnered with sports are a great way to build character and confidence. I look forward to the future programs the organization holds.”
In 2004, First Tee — Monterey County began conducting golf and life skills programs for youth between the ages of 4-17 at the Twin Creeks Golf Course in Salinas. Members of First Tee — Monterey County participate in weekly classes taught by recognized First Tee coaches and PGA Apprentices. The organization supports the lives of over 10,000 youth annually by helping them avoid a life of violence and crime and improving their academic efforts.
First Tee — Monterey County focuses on all aspects of healthy living for youth, from ensuring physical health is protected while playing in a safe environment and following the rules, to their emotional and social health, focusing on their involvement with family and friends and maintaining those relationships.
Since 1989, Dr. Michael Klassen, MD, FAAOS, aspires to help residents of Monterey, California and the surrounding areas gain better functioning, improve their mobility, and have access to high-quality medical care and expertise. A graduate of the prestigious UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine, he is proud to help Californians seeking medical-legal evaluations. Dr. Klassen is currently the President of the California Orthopedic Association and is a leader in providing patient-focused orthopedic care and surgery in Monterey.
