A native to the South Texas region, Dr. Marshall-Rodriguez is committed to providing patient-centered care to her community. Her successful career began with a medical degree from The University of Texas Medical School in Houston where she graduated with the faculty’s top honor given to a graduating senior medical student, the Ross C. Sterling Award. In addition, she was nominated as a junior medical student to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.

Her tradition of excellence continued during her residency at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. She received numerous awards relating to orthopaedic research and patient care, including the American Orthopaedic Association-Zimmer Resident Research Award and the CMC Outstanding Clinical Research Award. With an interest in geriatric bone health, she also developed the hospital’s first Outpatient Fragility Fracture Care Program to identify and treat elderly patients with osteoporotic fractures.

Upon graduating from her residency and research fellowship, Dr. Marshall-Rodriguez completed a joint reconstruction fellowship at Rush University in Chicago, Illinois. World-renowned for minimally invasive arthroplasty, Rush University provided an unparalleled environment to learn state-of-the-art surgical techniques from the pioneers in such techniques. She also became well versed in complex hip and knee revision surgery for failed joint replacements.

After her fellowship completion, Dr. Marshall- Rodriguez joined the faculty at the University of Texas Health Science Center’s Department of Orthopaedics in San Antonio. As a merit to her clinical studies and research in the area of hip and knee replacement biomaterials, she was awarded the Ruth Jackson Orthopaedic Society Academic Traveling Fellowship Award, the American Orthopaedic Association Career Development Award, the American Orthopaedic Association North American Traveling Fellowship, and the Orthopaedic Research and Education Foundation/American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons Research Grant in Adult Reconstruction.

Nowadays, she continues to lecture on her research expertise, specifically on the topic of highly cross-linked polyethylene and its effects on various cell types within the body. She also remains actively involved in research investigating the body’s stem cells for future regenerative potential.

To stay abreast of the latest developments in her field, Dr. Marshall-Rodriguez holds professional memberships with the Orthopaedic Research Society, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons.
