The Consortium of Multiple Sclerosis Centers (CMSC), in collaboration with The France Foundation (TFF) and Nurse Practitioner Alternatives (NPA), has produced a Rehabilitation Primer focusing on best practices for rehab specialists who treat individuals with multiple sclerosis (MS). “A Practical Guide to Rehabilitation in Multiple Sclerosis,” is one in a series of educational products, which compose an innovative MS-focused curriculum. This comprehensive educational series, developed by CMSC, TFF and NPA, is entitled Advances in Multiple Sclerosis (AIMS) and is intended as a practical guide for clinicians, providing up-to-date expert guidance in the rehabilitation of patients with MS. The primer can be found on the website www.cmeaims.org, which houses the AIMS educational content.
“This first of its kind Rehabilitation Primer is intended to help physiatrists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, speech language pathologists, and other rehabilitation clinicians improve the management of patients with MS, and ultimately help improve outcomes for those individuals dealing with this unpredictable disease,” said June Halper, Chief Executive Officer of the CMSC. “We feel that it will prove to be an excellent resource for all rehab providers.”
The primer compiles state-of-the-art information regarding rehabilitation strategies in problems with mobility and related impairments, cognitive limitations, speech and swallowing disturbance, and a variety of health and wellness issues. It provides practical and real-life solutions that can be used in clinical practice, making this Rehabilitation Primer an invaluable tool for clinicians of all disciplines who are involved in the care of MS patients.
A PDF version of the “A Practical Guide to Rehabilitation in Multiple Sclerosis,” can be found on the website www.cmeaims.org, which houses the AIMS educational content. Since its launch in 2013, the AIMS educational series has become a benchmark in MS education and provides multiple learning opportunities to neurologists, nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, rehabilitation professionals, and other health care providers involved in the management of patients with MS.
