New York, NY (PRUnderground) March 24th, 2011
Coclico, the fashion-forward and eco-friendly footwear brand and the Open Space Alliance for North Brooklyn (OSA), are embarking on an unprecedented partnership in honor of Earth Day. On April 22, Coclico will donate 20% of sales from its Nolita store and website to OSA, a non-profit organization that is dedicated to greening and growing more open space in North Brooklyn. On this day, anyone who purchases Coclico shoes will also be entered to win VIP passes to OSA’s parks benefit concerts at the Williamsburg Waterfront this summer.
“Coclico is committed to designing fashionable footwear but not at the expense of the environment,” said Sandra Canselier, owner of Coclico. “The partnership with OSA is perfect for us as not only do they help improve parks, but they do so in an area we personally care about; almost the whole Coclico team lives in the very neighborhood that OSA works to improve.”
“OSA is very grateful for Coclico’s support to create new gardens in North Brooklyn. We’re looking forward to working with them in our gardens, and maybe in their shoes, this summer.”
ABOUT COCLICO:
For ten years on 275 Mott Street in New York City, Coclico (https://www.coclico.com) watched the city change street-by-street, neighborhood-by-neighborhood. Coclico decided to do business differently and make greener choices in production for a healthier world — to minimize its impact on the environment and provide greener options for fashionable women. As part of this commitment, Coclico uses earth friendly materials such as vegetable-based colorings, cork and wood soles and ensures these materials are sustainably harvested. The company also works only with like-minded companies who are spearheading change within the fashion industry by eliminating unnecessary pollution and waste.
ABOUT OSA:
The Open Space Alliance for North Brooklyn (https://www.osanb.org) is helping to green North Brooklyn. OSA improves existing parks and helps create new parks in North Brooklyn. OSA accomplishes this by linking community volunteers, raising funds, working with elected officials and parks agencies. OSA also supports community advocacy for the parks; involves its community in the planning of new parks and improvements; supplements parks operations and maintenance; and organizes and coordinates volunteer efforts in the parks.
