Industry: Advertising & Marketing

The Fearless Girl Statue by Kristen Visbal is a Statue Commissioned by SSGA and Replica of Original, which Famously Faced the Charging Bull Statue on Wall Street in NYC

West Hollywood (PRUnderground) March 12th, 2019

The City of West Hollywood is celebrating Women’s History Month in March with a series of events to recognize and honor women and women’s history.

The City of West Hollywood’s Arts Division is proud to exhibit a replica of the original The Fearless Girl statue by Kristen Visbal, a statue commissioned by SSGA. The original was installed two years ago on March 7, 2017, which was the day before International Women’s Day and just weeks after the historic inaugural worldwide Women’s March events. It famously faced the Charging Bull statue by Arturo Di Modica near Wall Street in New York City, where it immediately became a selfie phenomenon. This replica of the original statue was installed on March 7, 2019 at the West Hollywood Library, where it will be on view during the remainder of March 2019. The library is located at 625 N. San Vicente Boulevard. Regular library open hours are Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Sunday, 1 to 5 p.m. The library is closed on Monday, March 25, in honor of Cesar Chavez Day.

About City of West Hollywood

The City of West Hollywood was officially founded on November 29, 1984. Previously, the area had been an unincorporated section of Los Angeles County. Cityhood was proposed by an unlikely coalition of LGBT activists, seniors, and renters who came together to form a City with progressive policies and strong tenants’ rights protections. For more than 30 years, the City of West Hollywood has demonstrated that it is like no other city in the world. West Hollywood has become one of the most influential small cities in the nation. No other city of its size has had a greater impact on the national progressive public policy agenda. A strong spirit of community activism and civic pride thrives in the City and people from all over the globe visit to experience its iconic destinations such as the rainbow crosswalks and LGBT clubs on Santa Monica Boulevard (historic Route 66), trendy shopping on Melrose Avenue, and nightlife on The Sunset Strip.
