Carlisa, Inc Founder, is taking an innovative approach to the organizations fundraising efforts.

Recently released, Living Fulfilled…The Infectious Joy of Serving Others chronicles author, Eleze Thomas-McMillan’s recollections of finding joy through helping others. More importantly, Thomas-McMillan hopes to raise the projected $65,000 needed to build a community kitchen that will serve twenty-five hundred free meals per month to members of the community.

The book is something of a coming of age story that chronicles the author’s beginnings as a young African American girl raised in rural Alabama and follows her through her nomadic hippy days in California to her return home.

Thomas-McMillan reveals through the book’s chapters how she comes to terms with her personal destiny.  She follows God’s path, trading financial reward for the happiness she reaps in return for the free meals with a side of hope she provides. The author paints the picture of her life made extraordinary through the gift of giving.

“This book is truly a labor of love.  I wanted to show people that it doesn’t matter how much money we have.  We can still make a difference,” said Eleze Thomas-McMillan, author and founder of Carlisa, Inc. “In the grand scheme of things we are a small non-profit but we make a huge difference to those we are able to help in our community,” Thomas-McMillan continued.

Thomas-McMillan spent three years writing her book and credits the help of many supporters to bring it to fruition.  She means for the book to inform and inspire others to extend a hand to those who might otherwise go hungry, as well as to raise the funds needed for the community kitchen.
