budgetplaces.com started its UK operations in 2007 by offering budget hotels, hostels, apartments and B&Bs on its website. Ever since, the low-cost expert has permanently grown its offering in Great Britain. More than 350 establishments are available in London. The second biggest destination is Edinburgh, with almost 100 properties online. Manchester, Liverpool and Glasgow follow in the list of the over 70 UK destinations where budgetplaces.com offers rooms. budgetplaces.com’s accommodation stands out for offering basic, yet comprehensive services, at rates equal to or lower than the average hotel rate at any given destination.
Looking at the UK domestic market, on the other hand, the budgetplaces.com brand is also becoming increasingly popular with UK travellers, who make up more than one quarter of the booking portal’s annual €80 million gross bookings. The most booked destinations by British travellers include European city break classics, such as Paris, Rome and Barcelona, as well as domestic UK destinations, where budgetplaces.com will strengthen its offering with the help of the new London office.
Popular overseas destinations where budget accommodation from budgetplaces.com is available include New York City, Sydney, Melbourne, Kuala Lumpur, Tokyo, Los Angeles, Buenos Aires and Miami. Over the past couple years, the Barcelona based low cost expert has managed to position itself as a global provider of budget hotels, hostels, apartments and b&b’s.
budgetplaces.com’s new London office is headed up by UK Country Manager Karla Brooklyn who joined budgetplaces.com after holding managerial positions with travel industry giants Gullivers Travel and, most recently, Expedia.
”Great Britain has become one of the key markets for budgetplaces.com. I believe there is great potential for further growth for both inbound and outbound travel. Our new base in London will allow us to get even closer to UK hoteliers and understand their needs which will translate into an even better hotel product available to our clients”, says Karla Brooklyn.
The new office opened on February 1st, 2012.
