The show was originally booking through till October 2012 but has now posted early closing notices for 14th January 2012. The popular musical is set to play its final run in London at the Noel Coward theatre before heading out on a tour of the UK and Ireland sometime in 2012.
The producers have released a statement saying “We’ve enjoyed a fantastic year in the West End and audiences have been amazing. The musical has been seen by over 200,000 people, played over 250 performances and grossed in excess of £5 million at the box office. We’d like to thank our cast of extraordinarily talented actors and musicians as well as the great company and crew who have all helped raise the roof of the Noël Coward Theatre night after night.”
‘Million Dollar Quartet’ tells the story of a night in 1956 when the four greats, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis and Elvis Presley, were brought together in a recording studio and made history. The show features over 20 tracks from all four artists including ‘Hound Dog’, ‘I Walk the Line’ and ‘Blue Suede Shoes’.
