Billy Gerard Frank is one of four artists selected to represent Grenada at this year’s edition of the Venice Biennale, a prestigious cultural event that is often referred to as ‘The Art Olympics.’ The 58th International Art Exhibition will run from May 11 – November 24, bringing together many of the world’s most talented artists, critics, gallery and museum professionals, art historians, collectors, and art enthusiasts alike. Fine Art Shippers is happy and excited to be part of this incredible art event too, helping Billy Gerard Frank with art logistics and shipping.

We have extensive experience transporting fine art and antiques from the United States to Europe and vice versa, including to/from all the major art shows and fairs held in the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Spain, Germany, and other countries. The Venice Biennale is no exception, and we are very proud that our team has been chosen to deliver works by the amazing Grenadian-born artist Billy Gerard Frank to the upcoming exhibition in the Floating City.
Billy Gerard Frank is a very talented filmmaker and multidisciplinary artist residing in New York City. He was born in Grenada but at the age of 16 moved to London where he began painting and experimenting with installation and video art. In 2001, Frank moved to New York City to study fine arts at the Art Students League of New York and the National Academy Museum and School of Fine Art.
Billy Gerard Frank also studied media arts and filmmaking at the New York University and the New School. Since 2005, he has worked as a director, writer, and production designer in various documentary and narrative films, some of which were screened at the Palm Springs International Short Film Festival, Berlinale, Sundance, and other international film festivals. Frank’s works have been exhibited in numerous solo and group shows and are held in several public and private collections around the world.
At the Venice Biennale 2019, Billy Gerard Frank will present his new work titled “2nd Eulogy: Mind The Gap.” It is a video installation telling the story of his father’s life, with many references to Frank’s own experience of growing up as a gay teenager in Grenada. “2nd Eulogy: Mind The Gap” is a somewhat phantasmagoria that perfectly combines non-fiction with fiction, creating an abstract story of interconnected lives. The video installation is additionally complemented by several multimedia collages that add personal and historical context to the entire work.
Billy Gerard Frank is a great artist, and we are happy that he has been selected to represent Grenade at the Venice Biennale 2019. The exhibition is expected to be a momentous one for the artist, so we highly recommend that you visit the official National Pavilion of Grenada to see Frank’s work with your own eyes!
